Imagined World Artwork 02 - Starting Over from Scratch

After exporting the render I'd produced in Blender, I brought it through into Photoshop with hopes of stylising the existing image, or illustrating over it with similar colours and themes. In the end, I found myself struggling with it for a number of reasons. The first being the amount of space where there's just nothing but wall and void, which I'd hoped to work in as a metaphor relating to the human race and their chances of surviving in a world ruled by sentient robots. I realized just how excruciating it would be to add  on top of what I've already produced, to fill that void in the foreground and background and as a result I've decided it'd be easier to start over with an idea and a setting that doesn't require excessive amounts of asset development!

The first rule I set myself when setting up my second attempt was working in a much smaller space, so I decided that instead of basing the artwork in the tunnels, I'd instead work with the entrance, with the whole room refurbished into an abandoned bunker; a staple of humanity's last efforts against both a autonomous enemy and themselves.

The vorticist elements came from me simply experimenting with extruded cubes with different colored emissions on each face to show volume and definition:

I decided to keep the train station setting but bring the scope and scale significantly down to reduce the amount that needs to be developed! So instead of illustrating the big, lengthy platform I've taken it to the entrance.

To create that sense of divide, I decided to contrast the western architecture of the room with some Japanese calligraphy on the robots to better convey that possible conflict. I also wanted to create an even mix between
