Keeping in mind the genre and conventions agreed on by my Synoptic Project group for our game, I decided I'd stay true to that vision and design a futuristic subway station. I decided I'd get a keep my list of influences short and limited my inspiration to two games that I can refer to when completing my artwork. The first game I wanted to use for the setting of my concept artwork was Halo 3: ODST and the Data Hive setting below the city of New Mombasa, where the majority of the game takes place.
It's fortunate that I've been able to find such a fitting level from a game that, excluding the backstory, fits our synoptic project relatively well based on elements of the level's design. From the lack of life and abandoned look brought about by how unkempt it looks, it really gives the player a bleak window into what this facility would've looked like during operation.
I've also looked at the Borderlands game franchise for inspiration, namely the second title as it had a more polished, refined look when compared to the original. Not only that, Borderlands 2 was also more imaginative with concepts that appeared in the game's world of Pandora, namely the trains that magnetically hang onto and follow a horizontally adjacent power-rail (as shown below). This idea stuck with me and I think this is the perfect opportunity to put that design to good use!

After a hefty amount of asset development and hard-surface modeling, I finally had a mock-up of how my scene was going to eventually look after tweaking and tinkering with it in Photoshop to give it a more illustrated aesthetic.
