This week we were tasked with putting together a flowchart detailing the events and potential outcomes with each step in the games development pipeline from concept to product.
What I found to be quite satisfying is how with the program I was using, it was each to map out concepts and hypothetical suggestion and situations that could lead one onto the next stage in development or send them tumbling backward ever so slightly.
What I learned from doing all this was the importance of visualizing these steps and having a protocol for when things don't go exactly to plan. It's a peace of mind knowing that everyone in the group, myself included, understands not only their own roles in the pipeline, but everyone else's as well.
One thing I wish we'd done was, like the other pre-production tasks, is collaborate on the same flowchart, splitting up the chart into sections, though giving it a second thought, I feel this could lead to a mixed amount of detail, with some sections being more dense and descriptive than others.
